Welcome-to-the-prideThis page is for Freshmen and Transfers who start their TCNJ careers this Spring! On this website, you will find all the tools needed to guide you through your transition and enrollment here at TCNJ. Such tools include helpful tutorials, an Enrollment Checklist and other valuable resources to ensure a successful first semester at TCNJ.

In order to access these enrollment tools, the admissions deposit must be processed. Please submit the deposit as outlined in the Admissions letter as soon as possible in order to prepare for Orientation in January.

My Academic Requirements Report

Your Academic Requirements Report is found in the Student Center in PAWS. It provides an outline of the necessary requirements for your major, what requirements you have fulfilled, and what requirements are still needed. Once you have searched for your first semester courses and placed them into your shopping cart, your Academic Department will begin to preregister you for Orientation. Refer to the eBook on how to access the Academic Requirements Report.

Liberal Learningglobe

The liberal learning program allows you to explore areas outside your major field. You will enroll in several courses over your TCNJ career to fulfill these requirements. Orientation Preparation FAQ

How do I pay my deposit?

You should have received an Admissions letter that indicates how to submit your deposit. For more questions, visit (http://studentaccounts.tcnj.edu/billing/).

I have my Associates Degree. How does this affect my requirements?

Consult the Special Message to Associate Degree Students in the blue box on the side of this page.

Do I have a math or language requirement?

As a student enrolling at The College of New Jersey, you may be required to take some placement tests or meet departmental assessments to ensure appropriate course placement in first semester courses. Please familiarize yourself thoroughly with the information on placement tests and assessment requirements in the Placement Booklet.

 How do I access TCNJ Web Tools for things like my email and PAWS?

TCNJ Web Tools can be found at the top of the TCNJ Today page (today.tcnj.edu). Here you will find access to your email, PAWS, Canvas, GetIt Card, MyHousing, and more! Make sure to always check your TCNJ email as it is the official form of communication from TCNJ to you.

What exactly is PAWS?

PAWS is the main online data system used at TCNJ where students can access course descriptions, select classes for your Shopping Cart, process enrollments, review your academic requirements, adjust personal information, access online tuition bill, and more. You will use this tool throughout your career at TCNJ. For guidance on how to navigate PAWS, refer to the PAWS tutorials website above.

How do I use PAWS?

Consult the PAWS Tutorial link above for step-by-step processes on PAWS navigation.

How do I know what courses have transferred? What requirements do I still need to fulfill?

Your requirements, fulfilled and unfulfilled requirements, are outlined within your Academic Advisement Report (AR Report) found on PAWS. All of your transfer credits that have been accepted will be shown within the AR Report. Refer continuously to the AR Report when choosing classes for upcoming semesters.

What is Liberal Learning?

TCNJ’s Liberal Learning program is designed for students learn the fundamentals of reasoning, communication, and living in today’s world. It allows students more options for interdisciplinary study and receive a well rounded undergraduate education. These requirements and what classes will fulfill them are listed in your Academic Requirements Report. Each course has a course description indicating its attributes and the liberal learning domain if any. How do I put classes in my Shopping Cart?

This is the most important part to complete before orientation. Refer to Step 5 of the Transfer eBook or to the PAWS tutorials page above for step-by-step processes.

I’ve loaded my Shopping Cart. What happens now?

Congratulations on your preparation for your first semester at TCNJ! You academic department will preregister you prior to your attendance at the January 20th Orientation.  Next step is to attend Orientation in January where you will learn more about the college and finalize your schedule! If you are unable to attend Orientation, contact the Admissions office and see Step 6 of the Transfer Ebook. While Orientation is mandatory, if you are unable to attend, please finalize your schedule by registering for your classes on your Enrollment Appointment date, January 20th.
